The Historic Bridgeton Covered Bridge


Having a covered bridge over a waterfall makes it Indiana 's Most Famous Covered Bridge. The Bridgeton Covered Bridge was destroyed by fire in 2005. The bridge was rebuilt in 2006. Click here to see how the bridge was rebuilt.

  • The dam is nine feet tall and 225 feet long.
  • The dam is covered end to end only during high water. It is in bad shape.
  • The covered bridge is 267 feet long. (The postcards say 245 feet).
  • It is a double span Burr Arch built by J.J. Daniels in 1868.
  • The covered bridge was “Set Aside” or closed to traffic in 1968.
